On a historic pace, here’s how Mavericks star Luka Doncic stacks up to NBA greats 100 games into his career

Published

on

Recall that when Luka Doncic completed his 72-game first Mavericks season, he wasn’t just the clear NBA Rookie of the Year winner, but he had entered rarefied air statistically.

It hardly seemed possible, but Doncic has shifted into hyperdrive in Season 2, increasing his scoring average from 21.2 to 29.0, his rebound average from 7.8 to 9.6 and his assist average from 6.0 to 9.1.

“Honestly I didn’t think it was going to be by that much,” Doncic says of his improvement. “But as long as we keep going like this, winning games, I wouldn’t change anything. Like I’ve said from the beginning, we want to get into the playoffs. That’s our goal.”

Thanks to his quantum-leap sophomore-season start, Doncic on Sunday reached his 28th game of the season and round-number 100 of his career on an even more accelerated pace, historically speaking, from both the NBA and Mavericks franchise perspectives.

And in case anyone needs reminding: Doncic is only 20, which was college age for many of the other players on the following lists (all statistics gathered through basketball-reference.com).

Here’s how Doncic at 100 games compares to NBA greats after their 100th games.
